Kayaks on Mystic

Time:	6:30 pm to 8 pm

Interested in joining other adults for an evening of nature exploration, a scenic workout and some relaxation, all on the beautiful Mystic Lake? Then join us for Wednesday Kayaking Nights! What: Kayaking on the Upper Mystic and Aberjona, with "brown bag" or snack bar meal afterwards. When: Wednesday evenings, starting next Wednesday, June 16th, through September. Oars in at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting. Return between 7:30 and 8pm to the snack bar or BYO meal. Who: Over-18 members who are interested in kayaking in a social setting. Whether your interests are a light workout, relaxation, nature exploration, social, or any and all the above, please join us! Wide range of experience levels welcomed, understanding of basic kayak operation desired, lifejackets required, and tips and techniques welcome. Still-water paddling; no rolling expected or necessary. Equipment and preparation: - Kayak: Must have your own kayak and paddle, or arrange to borrow. (WBC does not rent.) Have a double kayak? Bring a friend or meet someone new who is interested in kayaking! - Life preserver: Required by state law, no exceptions. - Supplies: Water recommended, food afterwards. Bug spray also if out near sunset, esp. in the northern lobe and up the Aberjona. The plan is for everyone to be in-boat by 6:30, so please allow some time for setup and boarding. We'll get a feel for experience levels each week to choose a route. The goal is to meet others interested in kayaking, learn a little about the lake and river, and have fun!
