
The Junior Lifeguard position is responsible for guarding the pool during open swimming and learning the procedures to open/close the pool/pool deck and maintain its safety and cleanliness.
The Junior Lifeguard must be available from the beginning of the season through to Labor Day (to be negotiated with the General Manager. He/She must be available to work nights and weekends during this time period. No vacation is provided during the seven week lesson season.
As with all of WBC program staff, the Junior Lifeguard should be a role model for participants in the swim programs, exemplifying the key characteristics we expect of our employees: Commitment, Respect, Responsibility and Cooperation.
While on duty, the Junior Lifeguard must wear the bathing suit and uniform specified by the General Manager in accordance with state regulations. When representing the Club at swim events and club meetings, the Junior Lifeguard should wear the uniform specified by the GM (collared shirt, khakis).
The Junior Lifeguard is a part-time (12-20 hours per week) summer employee, paid an hourly rate. As an hourly employee, the Junior Lifeguard is required to submit a weekly timecard to the General Manager for approval and all overtime needs to be approved in advance by the Head Guard, or a manager on duty if Head Guard is not available.
The Junior Lifeguard must be certified in Lifeguard Training and First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. The Junior Lifeguard must be at least 16 years of age.
The Junior Lifeguard reports to the Head Guard, working under the direction of the General Manager.
