Mooring and Boat Rack Policy for the Winchester Boat Club

Mooring and boat rack assignments will first be available during the Boat Club's Opening Work Day. All moorings and boat rack slots will be assigned by the Manager on duty, the Harbor Master, or the Board's designee. All assignments will be made on a first come, first serve basis. At the end of the season, each member will give up his or her assignment from the preceding season and all moorings and boat rack slots will be reassigned for the next year on the same first come, first serve basis.

After the Opening Work Day, mooring and boat rack assignments can only be made during normal business hours when the Club is open. If the Manager or the Harbor Master is not present, office staff will make temporary assignments subject to final review and approval by the Winter Manager or the Harbor Master.

All assignments are temporary until the member has completed the entire application by providing all of the proper boat identification information including sail number, hull number, and boat name, as well as all other information requested on the application. If all information on a temporary assignment is not complete within two weeks, the mooring or boat rack slot may be reassigned if another member requests it. Once an application is complete and approved, the member will be provided a Winchester Boat Club decal that includes the assigned mooring number or boat rack number.

On balance, all moorings are about equal with regard to various criteria. The Club will try to accommodate all members' requests but the best choice of moorings and boat rack slots goes to those who sign up early at Opening Work Day each spring.
